Project SA: Construction of a new 3-bedroom house in Wemmel
The project consists of the construction of a new house in Wemmel
The house consists of 3 above-ground levels and one basement level.
The daytime areas are on the ground floor, connected to the garden, and the nighttime areas are located on the upper floors and include 3 bedrooms and bathrooms.
The unique aspect of this project lies in the fact that this 6.5m wide plot is subject to strict urban planning regulations which impose several constraints:
- a 3-sided building with a setback of 3m from the property line.
- a depth of only 10m, aligned with the adjoining neighbor.
This gives the building a very particular, very narrow volume.
The ground floor volume is therefore the subject of a request for exemption, in order to have sufficient living space for the daytime areas (living room, dining room and kitchen)
The open space between the ground floor volume and the property line will be used to allow access to the house and the garden.
The floor plan is designed to optimize every square meter of living space. This is why vertical circulation is located in the center of the dwelling to serve the rooms situated at the front, thus reducing circulation areas.
A large part of the thinking behind this project will consist of finding solutions to optimize living space.
This is also why the facade will be studied in such a way as to limit its thickness to the maximum and to choose a thin facade cladding of the fibre cement type.
The architectural and aesthetic intention of the building is to treat its facades in the most understated way possible, without eccentricities, and to materialize the very particular volume within this urban fabric by applying a white coating.
